Born in Manhattan, raised in the Bronx, Grilikhes graduated from Pratt Institute, where she studied with Jacob Lawrence and Stephen Greene. Before attending graduate school at Brooklyn College, where, studying with Philip Pearlstein, she earned an MFA in painting and was awarded a teaching fellowship, Grilikhes worked in film, interning with the Maysles Brothers. She then taught painting and drawing at The Brooklyn Museum Art School, Vassar College, and part-time at New York University and Sarah Lawrence. Nancy Grilikhes shows at Prince Street Gallery in New York City.
